Brokers for Automated Trading: What WeCore Connects Today

Brokers for automated trading that WeCore connects: Rithmic funding firms, ProjectX / TopstepX, tastytrade, WeCore Paper, and how to check a firm policy.

WeCore·Published ·7 min read

If you are comparing brokers for automated trading, two different questions get mixed together. The first is technical: can your automation software connect to the account at all? The second is about rules: does the broker or prop firm allow automated orders on that account? A "yes" to the first says nothing about the second. This guide lists what WeCore can connect today, what each connection needs from you, and how to check the policy side separately.

It is a description of technical support, not a ranking. No connection type here is better than another; the right one is simply the one your account already uses.

What you can connect today

WeCore is a bridge: TradingView alerts and strategies reach WeCore, WeCore applies your risk rules, and orders go to your own broker account. It is not a broker and never holds your money. Four connection types are available:

  1. Rithmic, used by many funding firms and by self-funded Rithmic accounts.
  2. ProjectX / TopstepX, used for Topstep accounts.
  3. tastytrade, a retail broker. It connects directly to your own tastytrade account through OAuth and is open to every WeCore customer.
  4. WeCore Paper, a built-in simulation account that needs no broker login.

Tradovate and NinjaTrader are shown as "coming soon". They are not available yet, and we are not giving dates for them.

Every plan can connect any supported broker or prop firm, and the number of logins is not capped by the plan, although the number of active accounts is (see multi-account trading automation).

Connection types compared

ConnectionTypical useWhat you needMain steps
RithmicFunding-firm and Rithmic accountsYour Rithmic username and password from the firm; the firm's name and account typeChoose the funding firm and account type, sign in, pick the account
ProjectX / TopstepXTopstep accountsA separate ProjectX API Access subscription, your TopstepX username and an API key (not your password)Link the subscription in TopstepX, create an API key, enter it in WeCore, enable Auto OCO Brackets
tastytradeRetail futures accountA tastytrade account approved for futures, with two-factor authentication on"Connect with tastytrade", sign in on tastytrade's own page, choose the account

In every case, a newly connected account starts in Simulation: orders are checked and recorded but nothing is sent to the broker. Live trading can be switched on only after the account's risk rules have been saved at least once, and only by you.

Rithmic and the funding firms

Rithmic is a trading platform infrastructure that many funding firms use. When you connect it, you choose the funding firm and the account type (evaluation or funded), and the correct Rithmic system is selected for you. The firms currently offered include Apex Trader Funding, Lucid Trading, Tradeify, Take Profit Trader, Elite Trader Funding, TradeDay, Bulenox, Earn2Trade and OneUp Trader. Some entries cover only certain phases of a firm's program, and the picker shows which, so choose the phase that matches your account. A Rithmic demo option is also available for testing.

If your firm is not in the list, it is not supported yet. That is a limitation of the picker and says nothing about your account. If the firm tells you a system name, there is an "Other firm" option where you type it exactly as given.

Two practical notes:

  • Rithmic allows one platform per login at a time. If you are logged in elsewhere with the same credentials, a connection may be refused.
  • Some firms must enable an account for API trading before it will connect. If you get a permission error, ask the firm to confirm the account is enabled.

ProjectX / TopstepX

For Topstep accounts, WeCore connects through the ProjectX API. You need a ProjectX API Access subscription, bought separately from WeCore on the ProjectX dashboard (the price was $29 per month when we checked, with a discount for Topstep traders). In TopstepX you link the subscription, create an API key and copy it in full. In WeCore you enter your TopstepX username and the API key, not your TopstepX password, and then pick one account from the list.

Turn on Auto OCO Brackets in the TopstepX risk settings. Without it, TopstepX refuses entries that carry a stop and a target, and WeCore will not send an entry without its protection.

One TopstepX login usually holds several accounts, and each connected account counts as one account in your plan.

tastytrade

tastytrade is a retail broker, and WeCore trades futures on it. The sign-in happens on tastytrade's own page using OAuth, so WeCore never sees your tastytrade password. Before you start, make sure the account is approved for futures and that two-factor authentication is turned on at tastytrade; otherwise tastytrade will not let you approve access.

There are no prop firms running on tastytrade. For a funded account use Rithmic or ProjectX. Stocks and options trading is not available through WeCore. If tastytrade says your account is not active yet, finish opening the account with tastytrade and try again.

WeCore Paper

WeCore Paper is a built-in simulation account. It needs no login, and it is a good place to check that an alert, a webhook and your risk rules behave as intended before any live account is involved. Fills there follow price rules similar to a real market, for example a limit order fills only when the price actually trades through the level. A simulation is still a simulation: real accounts can fill differently. The step-by-step method is in how to connect TradingView alerts.

Technical connectivity is not permission

This is the part most people skip. Being able to connect an account does not mean the firm allows automation on it. Keep two columns in your notes:

QuestionWhere the answer livesWho decides
Can the software connect to the account? The connection screen, the supported listThe software and the platform
Does the firm allow automated orders on this account stage? The firm's own help-center page and termsThe firm only

The firm's answer can differ between the evaluation, a simulated funded stage and a live stage. As read on 11 October 2026, Apex's pages say automation is not allowed; Topstep allows bots through its API with conditions and says live funded accounts cannot trade through the ProjectX API; Lucid permits automated systems and copiers but prohibits high-frequency trading; Tradeify allows a personal, unshared bot you can prove you own. These are summaries, with sources, in prop firms that allow automation. Rules change, so re-read the firm's page before you act, and for a before-you-start action plan see the prop firm automation checklist.

WeCore has no affiliation with any of these firms and does not decide whether a firm permits your setup.

What "coming soon" means here

"Coming soon" means not available. Do not plan around it. If you hold a Tradovate or NinjaTrader account today, you cannot connect it to WeCore, and you should pick a connection from the list above or wait. Anything not on the list, including firms missing from the Rithmic picker, is simply not supported yet.

A short path to start

  1. Identify which platform your account actually runs on (Rithmic, ProjectX, tastytrade).
  2. Read the firm's automation policy for your account stage.
  3. Connect the account; it starts in Simulation.
  4. Save risk rules, then run a few test alerts in Simulation.
  5. Only then decide whether to switch Simulation off.

If you want to try it, you can see the plans or create an account and start with WeCore Paper, which needs no broker. If you prefer ready-made strategies on your own trading server, see WeAlgo.

FAQ

Which brokers can I use for automated trading with WeCore?

Today: Rithmic (including several funding-firm options), ProjectX / TopstepX, tastytrade (a direct broker connection through OAuth, open to all customers) and the built-in WeCore Paper simulation account. Tradovate and NinjaTrader are not available yet.

Does a supported connection mean my prop firm allows bots?

No. Technical connectivity and firm policy are separate questions. The firm's own rules decide whether automated orders are allowed on your account stage, so read them and ask the firm in writing.

Can I connect a Topstep account?

Yes, through ProjectX / TopstepX with a separate ProjectX API Access subscription and an API key. Check Topstep's own API Access page for its conditions, including what it says about live funded accounts and remote servers.

Is my firm missing from the Rithmic list?

Then it is not supported yet, which is a limit of the list and not a problem with your account. If the firm gives you a Rithmic system name, an "Other firm" option lets you enter it.

Do I need a broker to try WeCore?

No. WeCore Paper is a built-in simulation account that needs no broker login, so you can test alerts and risk rules first.
